COME BACK TO JESUS

Often Jesus uses stories to emphasize the nature of God’s Heart in a matter. In Luke 15, Jesus tells three stories: the lost sheep, the lost coin and the lost son so as to emphasize one point - lost people deeply matter to Him.

In Luke 15:20, the Father is portrayed as waiting for the return of his lost child and when He sees them, He is filled with compassion and runs and embraces and kisses His beloved child. The son in this case, starts out with a well rehearsed speech asking for forgiveness. But the Father simply cannot wait to throw the biggest party ever for the return of his lost child.

Jesus is signaling loud and clear that our Father still deeply cares for those who have walked away from Him. He loves them intensely and is inviting them to return to the blessing of relationship with God.

Jesus is the ultimate Shepherd who takes care of His sheep and says there is more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent (Luke 15:7). What a joy it is to see people come back to Jesus!

Such is God’s heart for you. He is the God of the second, third, fourth and multiple chances because He loves you. Why not take the step today to come back into relationship with Christ?
